Hello Michael,
Written and spoken Cantonese are quite different. Here is a resource that explains their differences: https://www.cantoneseclass101.com/spoken-written-cantonese/.
Most materials on CantoneseClass101 are prepared with spoken Cantonese.
Sincerely,

Hi Cantonese class 101,
I was wondering if you could do a list of common phrases for sports including badminton 🏸.
I know how crazy my Cantonese friends are about badminton and how big it is in Asia !
Many thanks for your wonderful app.
Hi Brian,
It's a phrase that is more usually used today as a jibe than actual regret. It's like the "hai-yaa" phrase we heard a lot nowadays.
陰公囉!
jam1 gung1 lo3!

My mother spoke limited Cantonese and would on occasion say an expression indicating unhappiness or exasperation with the situation. Sounded something like: Yum goong oh!!
Any idea what the actual phrase might be and how to write out in pin yin and chinese characters?
Hi SW,
In this slideshow mode, there is a larger time gap between each of those recordings. If you are looking for a slowed version of the recordings, we will make a plan of rolling it out! 😄
