My grandparents can only speak Cantonese and I grew up with them all my life. Now I've lost 80% of my ability to speak Chinese, although I still can understand as well as I used to. I'll be using this website to learn so that I can have meaningful conversations with my grandparents with the time I have left with them. That might only be 2-4 more years when I go to college. Good luck to everyone in the same boat as me!

My family is from Hong Kong and i know how to hold a conversation, but I can’t write or read yet. With this list I can at least start to recognise and remember some of the characters for my favourite dishes!👍❤️

Make sure you emphasize the 'Z' and sound in 餃子; if you make an 'S' sound, people will wonder why you like to eat..... something else.
